Pandemic Influenza

Businesses & communities

Government alone cannot manage a pandemic and its effects. It will take a combined effort from everyone - all levels of government, industry and businesses, non-profit and community organisations, and the community in general.

A pandemic will have a major impact on Australia's ability to cope, on the economy and on our ability to recover quickly.

Businesses and community organisations need to have a continuity plan in place to ensure that in the event of a pandemic, core people and skills are available to keep business operating, to ensure the provision of essential products and services can continue, and to recover as quickly as possible.

The Australian Government has prepared a variety of practical information and tools to help businesses and communities consider what impact a human influenza pandemic could have, and to help take appropriate actions to prepare themselves as best they can for a pandemic in Australia.
